Our 4 A Better City projects strive not just to do good, but also build relationships of trust and hope with vulnerable individuals.
Through these meaningful connections, we seek to provide resources and support that enable them to pursue a more fulfilling and genuinely successful life.
Mahinga Kai Urban Farm
Our urban farm brings you fresh, nutrient dense vegetables and salad through our CSA Box Program.
Mahinga Kai Composting
Collecting kitchen green waste and turning it into nutrient rich compost for the urban farm and other community gardens.
I Have A Dream
A programme focused on helping Kiwi kids transform their lives, futures and communities.
Mental Health Support
A project that gathers members of the Upper Hutt mental illness community together regularly for support.
Hutt Valley Community Housing
We provide warm, dry, short-term accommodation for individuals and families who don’t have anywhere to live.
Te Whare Tane Services
Working with men who have experienced family violence and who want support to deal with the root causes.
Social enterprises
A key challenge for any charity to function well and keep achieving its goals for many years to come are regular, reliable finances. This is where our social enterprise businesses come in – The Kai Kart and Well Cut Lawns.
The Kai Cart
The Kai Kart is proudly owned and operated by the 4 A Better City Trust. So, each time you purchase a barista-made coffee, tasty smoothie or yummy sandwich from the cart you are also supporting the 4 A Better City Trust vision.
Well Cut Lawns
Well Cut Lawns are your local, experienced lawn mowers. We have lawns all over Upper Hutt, and room to expand. Whether it is a residential yard, large empty section, school or other field, no job is too big.
