Hutt Valley Community Housing
Hutt Valley Community Housing is an accredited Transitional Housing provider for The Ministry of Cities, Environment, Regions & Transport in Upper and Lower Hutt. We are able to provide warm, dry, short-term accommodation for individuals and families who don’t have anywhere to live.
What we do
Alongside providing warm, dry, short-term accommodation for New Zealanders, we also offer a wrap-around support program. This helps people secure a longer-term home and get them back on their feet, so that they’re in a stronger position to stay housed.
We do this by first providing them with a warm, dry place to stay. We then support them through their personalised plan for finding longer-term accommodation.
Get involved as a landlord
Hutt Valley Community Housing needs landlords. We offer guaranteed rent, full property management, and a property that changes lives.
Need housing?
Everyone deserves a safe place to call home. Hutt Valley Community Housing steps in with transitional housing and real support for those who need it most.
Who we are
Hutt Valley Community Housing is an initiative of 4 A Better City Charitable Trust. We have a Level Three Social Services accreditation from Te Kāhui Kāhu, and are registered Transitional Housing providers through the The Ministry of Cities, Environment, Regions & Transport (MCERT).
Through our other work in the community we became aware of the urgent need for short-term accommodation in the Hutt Valley area. We also saw the need of greater support of members of our community living in substandard accommodation. Someone to come along side them so that they are equipped to find warm, safe and healthy long term options for them and their families.
After some investigation our Board agreed that we should initially move into providing what MCERT call Transitional Housing. Today we manage three shared houses for men and a range of stand-alone houses and flats, suitable for family groups across the Hutt Valley.
